Palo Alto Change Password, Logout, Shutdown

CHANGE ADMIN PASSWORD

Option 1: From the GUI

Navigate to the bottom left corner of the window and click on Admin.

Fill in your old and new password details and click OK.

Then click Commit at the top right corner of the window, and Commit again in the pop-up window.

Once completed you can close the dialogue box.

Option 2: From the CLI

> configure

# set mgt-config users admin password <ENTER>

Enter Password: <password> <ENTER>

Confirm Password: <password> <ENTER>

(Note: The password typed is not displayed).

# commit

<ENTER>

LOGOUT

Option 1: From the GUI

Navigate to the bottom left corner of the window and click on Logout.

You will be taken back to the login window.

Option 2: From the CLI

Type exit to back up a level.

Repeat this until you are eventually logged out, and taken back to the login prompt.

SHUTDOWN

Option 1: From the GUI

Navigate to Device > Setup > Operations > Shutdown.

A Reboot is also an available option.

Option 2: From the CLI

At the > prompt, use the command request shutdown system.

Type ‘y’. The letter will not be displayed but the system will begin and complete its shutdown process.

To reboot the firewall, use the command request restart system.

Type ‘y’. The letter will not be displayed but the system will begin and complete its reboot process.
